Next Nintendo Wii Will Not Be 3D

Nintendo went all in on motion control, and now the rest of the industry is following their lead. But according to Mario mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto, the company doesn’t think it’s quite time for them to jump into the third dimension.

Speaking to Der Spiegel, Miyamoto said that while 3D makes sense for a self-contained device, like the forthcoming 3DS, there still just aren’t enough 3DTVs for a 3D Wii to work.

Is 3dtv really going to catch on? Yes it’s great, but are the masses going to sit and watch tv with 3d glasses on on a regular basis ? I think not. I can see more of a use for gaming purposes though.
